Archives- Election 2007

I received this scan today along with the reminder that the election for the new school board, the one that the Emperor threatened the late Ed Frankenfield with, is fast approaching.

They suggested that this could be added to our collection of memorabilia from 2007 to eventually see if the candidates, indeed, are keeping their word.

Does anyone have items from the 2005 election cycle? These are the same people whose seats would be up in 2009.

Now appearing: The Democrats

Reithmeyer for school board; Panzitta, Rivella, and Sherlock for borough council.

I know that in the same timeframe in which those lovely portraits were taken, some collection of individuals in the Morrisville Democratic Club (no one seems to be able to admit exactly who it was or any personal involvement, you just get a "it was a group decision" kind of answer) voted to file charges of "misconduct" against my wife and Harriet and David Phillips to boot them out of the Club. The charges were filed twice - once under the Club's sloppy incoherent bylaws, and then again under the County's by-laws when they realized the Club's bylaws weren't up to snuff.

The charges didn't stick, as anyone with a moderate level of bylaw reading comprehension would have seen. But that was probably besides the point. I think the idea was to "punish" these folks for "supporting" non-Club endorsed candidates for school board (i.e. non-Stop the School candidates). (side note: personally, I don't consider it punishment to not have to spend time in the same room with a good many of these folks).

They probably thought everyone would just roll over and except the "punishment", that no one would go through the effort involved in filing formal defenses to the charges (twice), and driving up to Doylestown on a Wed. night last December (ironically, the night of the swearing in of the Stop the School candidates) to face the Bucks County Dem. Committee tribunal and hash things out. But they fought it on principle and were vindicated. I think it was a silly vengeful exercise and a waste of misguided energy on the Dem Club's part.

I wonder if some of these folks, who worked so hard to usher the Stop the School candidates on board, are starting to re-think things a bit.

I remember one of the pictured candidates spoke at a Dem. Club "Meet the Candidates" event about Morrisville being the kind of idyllic town that's pictured in Norman Rockwell paintings, or some kind of psuedo-folksy drivel like that. Funny, I don't recall seeing any Norman Rockwell paintings about political bosses mistakenly trying to punish people for allegedly not towing a party line. But perhaps I'm not familiar with the entire Rockwell portfolio.

Maybe they meant to say "Orwell" not "Rockwell".

Or this Rockwell....Ahh, reminds me of my college days when MTV used to play videos.
