Superintendent on medical leave

From the BCCT.

Best wishes to Dr. Yonson for a speedy recovery.

This also means that Mr. Ferrara will get to experience those 3:00 A.M. calls telling us another school has another problem.

Superintendent to be on medical leave

Morrisville Superintendent Elizabeth Yonson will be on medical leave for four to six weeks starting Tuesday. She said she will undergo a surgical procedure. High school Principal William Ferrara will assume some of her responsibilities and interact with parents while she is gone.

“There’s a great team here. That’s really what’s going to make the district run smoothly. I’m just the point person here. We will be in weekly if not daily contact with Dr. Yonson,” he said Friday.

First off, I second best wishes to Dr. Yonson for a speedy recovery.

Now for some sarcasm, borne out of my frustrations and discontent about this Board majority and its actions (and inactions):

Can the Board rip up her 3-year contract like it did in June 2008 with her 5-year contract and hand her a 4-to-6 week contract that expires as soon as she returns? No hard feelings, right? (extending hand to Dr. Yonson for handshake a la Bill Farrell, after just handing her a crap sandwich).

Does Dr. Yonson need to return at all? After all, Mr. Ferrara will make a fine Superintentendent if Hellm--, er, he, so chooses (with head nod to Mr. Ferrara a la Bill Hellmann for emphasis).

Oops - sources tell me that it was Bill Hellmann, not Bill Farrell, who extended his hand to Dr. Yonson after providing the crap sandwich. Sorry about that, Bill Farrell. Hey, I'm not an expert. Still, I wonder if Hellmann was planning to apply 300 psi of pressure during the handshake, which Dr. Yonson rightfully refused.
