Was anyone at the borough meeting last night? How was the Gateway presentation?

The new proposal is scaled back by about 30% in square footage. The parking deck has been replaced by a surface parking lot. The expected job creation this smaller building has been moved from about 400 to about 180 jobs because they moved from a single tenant to multiple tenants.

This also moves exempt non-taxable land into a taxable category. This one project alone raises the industrial tax ratables by 11%! It's a great opportunity for Morrisville.

Any idea why they changed the plans so significantly? Was there a good reason for it, or was it just to please the town elders?

Elders seems like a misnomer. Shouldn't that be 'children'?

Dan Jones explained that the changes were mostly driven by reponses to community feedback/concerns. I only watched it on the boob tube, but there was loud applause for speakers in support of the project, not much at all for the detractors (Hughes, Hughes, Schell, and maybe 1-2 others). I loved the remarks from the lady from Rosemar Drive who said she thought the project was one from the "bright" side, as opposed to the "dark" side - or something like that. The gadflies seemed greatly outnumbered and diminished.
