Reminder that the Morrisville Borough Council meets tonight. Will Steve Worob introduce his tax resolution? Or is he too concerned with promoting his book to be an effective council member?

"consider preparing and advertising an amendment to the zoning ordinance regarding signage;"
Will we be seeing a huge billboard sign on the back side of the Stockham Building in the near future??
It would be nice if Steve introduced a resolution to borough council in support of the revised tax plan in the Gov's education budget. But that's really letting the guy off way too easy. Chances are, council would then vote it down and, voila, his work is done and he's off the hook, right?
Plus, I'm guessing council is more enamored with HR1275, the School Property Tax Elimination Act that Sharon Hughes keeps mentioning at board and council meetings. It doesn't seem to have a lot of steam in the legislature, probably because the business community (hello, Wal-Mart, yo!) ain't too pleased with it because it expands the 6% state sales tax to many more goods and services, plus it increases the state income tax from 3.07% to 3.92%, a whopping 28% increase, which hits high income folks with political clout. But a resolution in favor of a pipe dream that results in nothing sure looks darn good on paper.....
Unfortunately, our local leadership is excellent at stopping stuff (except fireworks stores, nail salons, ciggie shops, the jury's still out on burlesque clubs, honorable mention for failed attempts to stop Concerto Fusion from getting a liquor license), but not very good at affecting positive change.
Where were all the high and mighty self promoting, we have to do all things right council members when the OK Corral on Philadelphia Ave was sponsoring shot outs and local sex acts curb side!!!!! Humpft I say....it wasn't on their street so why give a #$*&%($#&$(*&^%(#)&$!
Who will it be???????

I continued to be amazed at how they work diligently to stop all things good in this town an dthan make exceptions to things that trash it up. They disgust me.
Where were all the high and mighty self promoting, we have to do all things right council members when the OK Corral ....?
Slow to react, and not very forward-thinking, they usually then end up taking it out on the next guy. I think that's what happened to Man Wong with the Concerto Fusion liquor license. And to some extent, Gateway got slammed because ~25 years ago, some non-visionaries enabled the old Vulcanized Rubber factory site, would could have been a great redevelopment in the heart of downtown, to become a 7-11 strip mall. But hey, at least there's a fireworks store there now to keep it company. Slow to react,.... [continue in multi-decade loop]

Well, at least the memorialized Mr. Frankenfield by naming themselves after him.
So what DID get accomplished at last night's meeting?
Anyone? Anyone? Does anyone know what was accomplished at the meeting? Anyone? Anyone? Council met and did this... Does anyone know what Council did? Anyone? Anyone?
I watched some on TV. It was late getting started. There was a tribute to Ed Frankenfield read by Nancy Sherlock prior to the Pledge of Alliance. Thought that was nice & appropriate. Public comments from:
a man who owns a twin home in Manor Park. The other half he doesn't own is vacant, falling apart, leaking water, with very tall grass, & rodent infested, & he's looking for boro assistance with his predicament;
Bill Setzer of the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), thanking folks for participating in the Greystones & river clean-ups;
a rep from the NJ tennis league that wants to bring a tennis program to the courts at Williamson Park;
a resident who offered his volunteer services to the tennis program - nice!;
Steve Amend of the Economic Development Council (EDC), with a plea that council, the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC), & citizens work more harmoniously next time a project comes the EDC's way like Gateway. He stressed with a Tim Russert-inspired whiteboard that EDC does not equal a Project, but a Process.
There was discussion about the electrical bids for Bridge St. traffic work. The low bidder by $16k didn't meet the Pennoni-prepared spec. calling for PennDOT certifications, so council went with the 2nd lowest bidder, who did.
Think I then switched over to mostly watch the Phils beat up on the Red Sox....
Man, this town could sure use some of "Ben Stein's Money"!
My Family was at the Girls Softball Field for a Little League Game & the rusty poles of what remains of the old tennis fence lies all around. Everyone was commenting what a shame that the tennis courts were really unsuable.
For a town that loves our community park, you think we could come up with some money to install fencing, so people could actually play.
It sounds like the NJ Tennis league was OK with springing for about $200 to put some makeshift netting around the courts, so balls don't go rolling off into the probably poison-ivy laden underbrush (hello, rolls of black Hefty Bags & duct tape from Wal-Mart, yo!).
If 1 tax mil is roughly $60,000, that saves us taxpayers about 0.0033 mils, which could be better spent on fighting high quality economic development.
The league guy at last nite's council meeting also expressed interest in properly painting the courts (no runs, no drips, no forced errors!).
As a general rule and guiding principle of perpetual stagnation, we must always exhaust all possible (or impossible) options for obtaining (or not obtaining) private (or grant) monies before we even begin to think about tapping into the taxpayer till for any improvements to our schools, parks (or vacant lands not actually owned by the borough), perpetually locked Canal-side "comfort stations", municipal parking lots, and other amenities). One need look no further than the possibly soon to be temporarily hemmed in tennis courts to see the benefits that such privatization can bring!
Love & Aces!
Also, before this group serves up any tennis in our park, certain council members and their doubles partners may wish to perform a baseline study of the possible link between Wilson, maker of tennis equipment, and Valerie Plame Wilson, an allegedly covert CIA operative and wife of former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, who was sent on a boondoggle-junket to refute iron-clad Bush Administration allegations that Iraq was trying to obtain yellowcake uranium from Niger for WMD production, which was part of the justification for pre-emptive war.
It'll take someone with balls to look into this racket.
I remember them. Nice couple. She was never home, and he was always talking over the backyard fence to Tim, the guy next door.
Jon, You forgot about the infamous Wilson who abandoned Tom Hanks in the middle of the ocean during the storm. Surely that Wilson was most villainous of all!!
Wasn't that Wilson eaten by a Dolphin (& Bradbury)?
