Gateway Discussion at Agenda Meeting Tonight?

I received this email from a trusted source and would like to ask everyone who supports the Gateway projects to contact their borough council members. Let them know you support Gateway and that you expect their affirmative vote in council.

Go to the borough website from the link on the sidebar to the left and find your council members. Let them know you support Morrisville.

Heard that Gateway will be discussed this evening during the agenda meeting tonight at Boro Hall. Meeting begins at 7:30.

Also heard that a conversation was held with Jane Burger and that Ms. Burger mentioned that she CAN'T think of any reasons to support this project!!!

To put it simply, this could be the end of the Gateway project.

Please make an effort to attend and voice your opinion and call your ward representatives.

Ah! Even deposed from her seat of power, she is still a puppet-master.

lucky for us...she isn't entirely the brains of M'ville.

Or is she? hmmmmmmm?

It's great that we're posting here, but the truth is that she does have a voice in the life or death of Gateway. Call her and all the other council members and let them know you want Gateway built. The people who oppose it have no problem letting their wishes known.

How'd it go last night? I saw most of it on TV. It seemed like a mostly healthy, non-adversarial, productive dialogue.

I hope Council votes this coming Monday to keep the dialogue going. Council's Solicitor Downey indicated that the motion Council votes on can be worded in a way that does not commit Council to anything going forward, or expose Council to future liabilities. This seems like a reasonable, non-binding next step to allow fact-finding and due diligence to continue, recognizing that there are still questions to be answered and details to be worked out, and the developer must still go through the land use/planning/zoning processes.

Not to be contrarian, but MY sources tell me that the meeting was all lip service, and that there is no real support for the project.

Town leaders (read COUNCIL) are looking for a way to say "Well, it was a really nice idea BUT it can't happen because of this, that or the other thing" and that they are working with much effort to find those reasons. This way they save face by appearing to support the project, but, like Caesar, can wash their hands and say there was nothing that they could do about it.

My hope would be, at the very least, that Council verbalizes support. Sadly, I am not optimistic.

Now that you mention it, I could also see it going down that way too. In this play, the subtext (content underneath the spoken dialogue) is important, isn't it?

Well, at least I hope Council can take 1 small step forward on Monday before the project gets turned into Caesar Salad.

Did you notice how Jane Burger wouldn't even make extended eye contact with Dan Jones even though they were sitting next to each other?

Sounds like we've got a bunch of stories for the sequel to "Profiles in Courage." We can call it "Profiles in Dissembling."

pretense: pretending with intention to deceive
1) deception: the act of deceiving
2) concealing under a false appearance with the intent to deceive; "dissimulative arts"

Borows, did you mean to say, "Like Pontius Pilate?" I'm trying to remember Caesar washing his hands of anything. I really hope that what you are all suggesting is not true, especially given the apparent self-righteousness of so many of our council members. If this was truly dissembling, it is at least as bad as outright lying, perhaps worse. I understand why there are legitimate reasons to oppose any project. I happen to think in this case, the good far outweighs the bad, so I support it. This doesn't mean I don't understand or even agree with some of the arguments to the contrary. I am simply weighing sides and making a decision. It's no different than merging with Pennsbury, building a new school or any other decisive issue. The opposing sides needn't descend into insult and acrimony, and they needn't dissemble in any fashion. Simply state your case and stand by it.

Jane Burger, it sounds like the start of a bad joke. Perhaps it is....

anonymous III -

I stand corrected.

I still stand by my Caesar Salad pun though. Pontius Pilate Salad doesn't make much sense.

Well, gotta go do my Pilates!

Beware the ides of Burger!!!

So, if Jane is Pontius, would that make Steve Worob King Herod? Who was so worried about losing his throne he ordered the murder of all male children. Should we all stand up at the next meeting and chant, "Wewease Bwian!!
