To ratify all of the decisions made in the secret meetings?
Didn't they say at the business meeting that they were doing the five solicitor interviews in half hour increments this Friday night?
I'll guess that Kevin's on the right trail, and this meeting is to appoint a new solicitor. I'm afraid to think of the increase in costs this will create. Mr. Kelly was a great deal for this district, and he did the best job has was allowed to do under trying circumstances. I hope somewhere in all of this mess someone has the decency to honor his work on our behalf.
I believe the meeting is for interviewing solicitor candidates.
Anyone know if a certain really sweet guy is among the prospects?
It's off topic, and I'm not sure if another posting on Gateway was in the works, but saw the article below in the 4/26 BCCT and wanted to post it for posterity.
Gateway project scaled down
By DANNY ADLER
Bucks County Courier Times
A Morrisville-based developer has trimmed the proposed Morrisville Gateway Center project, reducing the building size and dropping the number of expected jobs to about 180.
The building, which would be located at the corner of Bridge Street and Delmorr Avenue, is expected to be a multi-tenant office space, according to Dan Jones, executive vice president of Penn Jersey Real Properties.
Originally proposed for as much as 75,000 square feet, Jones said the building now would top off at 49,680 square feet. And the number of jobs — and cars — now stands at about 180, down from the original proposal's estimate of between 400 and 600.
“We're trying to be responsive to people, to the comments we've heard,” Jones said. “The concerns we heard were traffic, size of the building, concerns about open space, and we tried to address that as best we could. So we kind of shrunk the building down.”
Although the building would not have the same economic development impact as Penn Jersey's previous proposal, Jones said, “It will still be very significant to the downtown revitalization and provide much needed tax relief to the residents.”
Some Morrisville residents praised the proposed center, saying it could assist in Morrisville's revitalization and bring in more tax money. Opponents are against the developer's request to buy or lease about two acres of unused land at the southern end of Williamson Park and are concerned about traffic and environmental issues.
Morrisville's council will have a joint meeting with the borough's economic development corporation at 7 p.m. Thursday to discuss the project further. The meeting, which is open to the public, will be held at borough hall, 35 Union St.

Why would they need to post for a special board meeting to interview candidates? This is clearly an executive session item. Given the board's secrecy on issues that should be open, it's almost staggering to think they'd conduct job interviews in an open forum. I guess Forrest Gump had it right, "Stupid is and stupid does."
Maybe they'll first vote to hire someone in public session, then conduct the interviews afterward in exec session?
That's kinda how the process is working with the school renovations.
Interviews were held last Friday (and were announced at the business meeting) and this Friday's meeting will be to vote to hire a new solicitor.
My money's on the cheapest and least competent one. If they're 2 different people, well then maybe sparks will fly!
I think I may have lost that bet. I don't know how he is as an attorney, and in particular a school board attorney, but I'm quite surprised the board got someone with Mike Fitzpatrick's name recognition/stature. I heard it wasn't a unanimous choice, though. Anyone know what the vote was, and how it went down?
